Another part increase because this part? Meant to be the first half of the first part of this part. If that makes sense? Basically a quarter of the size. So things got pushed back. More fic for you guys I guess?
Foggy jerks awake from a nightmare of darkness/blood/fear/whereisthesky at the same time Matt flails beside him. It takes Foggy a moment to realise Matt is awake too; his thoughts are still panicky and a mess of blood/save/dead/failedme? that Foggy is too caught up in his own nightmare to follow. But once again, Matt's panic feeds Foggy's and soon all he can focus on is panicking and the loss of the sky.
'Matt?' he's barely conscious of whispering in the hope that maybe speaking aloud will help them break this loop. 'Matt?'
It works. Something tight in their chests loosens, and Foggy can think through his panic. He's aware enough to realise that what was a nightmare for him was reality for Matt. Sorrow/panic/fear/panic/MattI-
Sing. Foggy, sing. We need something to drownoutfearcomfort focus on. Matt tries to shuffle away from Foggy, his intent clear in his mind. But Matt's muscles seize up and he can't seem to move.
The panic threatens to return and Foggy picks the first song to come to mind. 'Do you hear the people sing, lost in the valley of the night?' it dawns on him he's singing the wrong verse but as Matt can hear their heart rates slowly, he keeps going, 'It is the music of a people who are climbing to the light.'
'For the wretched of the earth, there is a flame that never dies,' Matt adds and Foggy has to stop singing because as awful as his voice is, Matt's is worse 'Even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.'
Without thinking, Foggy glances at the window, watching the beams of sunlight just visible in the room. 'Sun is rising today.'
Matt smiles as he hums the next line then sighs. You worriedscaredfear okay?
Foggy just relived Matt's blinding in his nightmares. He is so far from okay it's not funny. But... I'm worriedscared fine. You? You were having a nightmare too.
With a groan, Matt manages to sit up, taking away the heat of his body from Foggy. Who can feel/is Matt working through the details of his nightmare, focusing on the fact it was... it was...
It was about Matt? What? Fear floods through Foggy as he recognises the focus of the dream, a heartbeat before Matt does. Matt dying in his living room the night Foggy found out. They both can taste the blood - Matt's sense memory of that night adding to the memory - and Matt had woken up when his/Foggy's hands had been covered in it.
Foggy- Nope, not doing this. Nope.
It takes a bit of effort but Foggy manages to flail his way out of bed before Matt has a chance to move. He's halfway to the bathroom when his sense of Matt alerts him that his friend is about to grab his arm.
With a jerk, Foggy gets it out of Matt's range. Only he's forgotten that Matt is actually a ninja because he doesn't even think about the next move but is halfway through it before there's a thought for Foggy to comprehend. He grabs Foggy's other hand and grips tightly.
Determination/fear/need. We have to talk about this.
Foggy feels at his watch for the time before he realises that Matt's the one with the tactile watch. He glances down at it. 'We have to be at the office in two hours.'
Liar Matt breathes/knows. Foggy, please. You're my bestfriendloveneedtokeepsafe friend and I want to help.
He doesn't need help. Matt flinches a bit, as if he felt that as a physical blow. 'I'm fine. I just. Worry a bit.'
My blood on your hands? And that was a lot fearoverloadsomuchfear of worry.
Foggy needs this conversation to be over. It was a memory Matt, a reality. Your blood ohshitdyingpanic was on my hands. Matt stiffens and releases Foggy. He takes the chance to escape to the bathroom.
There's no privacy in his head, not anymore, but Matt at least starts to sing the song they were singing again so Foggy can pretend he's not listening. For some strange reason he goes back a few lines, starting with the line about love and God before belting out the finale. Faith/love/Godhelpus
With a sigh Foggy splashes water on his face and tries to process the morning. The nightmare really. Oh God, Matt. Foggy stares at himself in the mirror, to reassure himself that his vision is still there. Already the details of the dream are fading but the feelings linger. Sight I will never take you for granted.
Amusement. Breakfast?

Foggy speeds up his morning bathroom routine because Matt's food is going to need every moment he can give it. Neverleaving
Pleasure/finebyme Before Foggy can think that thought of Matt's through, Matt takes a bite of a piece of French toast and he's in heaven.
There's no room for other thoughts right then but he files it away for later.

It's easy enough to keep Foggy distracted as they finish getting ready - all Matt has to do is take a bite of any kind of food he likes and Foggy is making the most pornographic noises. It's hell on Matt's self control but Foggy's seemingly too distracted to notice. Matt takes another bite and tries to ignore the full feeling he has.
Good to see you tooskinnyworryfoodissues? eat Buddy. Foggy grabs their plates and slips them into the sink. Matt files away that worry with the ones from this morning. Gather evidence then confront. Ready?
Ready. Matt throws on his coat and takes a deep breath. Going to Foggy's to get his clothes had been far easier than expected but Foggy had tricked him into bed - again, Matt's not slept this much in years - nearly as soon as they got back so Matt didn't really have time to process. He's hoping he won't need it.
Foggy meets him at his door, with his cane and glasses. Matt pulls them on and smirks at Foggy. How do I look counsellor?
Looking hotwoundedduckattractive good as always. Matt smiles a the emotions Foggy accidentally let through. But before he can comment, Foggy offers his arm.
Takeontheworld?
Takeontheworld. Matt slips his arm into Foggy's elbow.
Arm in arm, they make their way to the office. As they pass Matt's favourite bakery, he takes in a long sniff and feels Foggy's delight at the scent. But otherwise, the walk feels exactly the same as usual. It's not awkward to walk like this but nor does it make them feel any closer than usual. Matt still taps away and Foggy provides a running - and entertaining - commentary of the world around them.
With one, possibly major, difference. Curb, Foggy thinks before continuing his commentary of the walk mentally, eliminating the risk of embarrassing comments being overheard. It dawns on Matt that Foggy finally understands how much his commentary helps Matt and allows him breathing space from the onslaught of his senses.
HereforyouBud. Light's green.
Thanks Pal.
Foggy pauses outside their building and for a moment Matt is confused. Then he looks straight at the sign he spent ages hanging and warmth spreads through Matt. Instinctively, Matt steps forward to run his fingers over it so Foggy can feel it like he does even as he sees it like Foggy does. His warmth is caught by Foggy and sent back, creating a much more pleasant feedback loop than before.
'Is this a private party, or can anyone join?' Karen asks and Matt smirks when Foggy jumps. Don't let focus on one thing stickfightingStickouch drown out your surroundings.
Haha. Annoyancebestfriendhateloveconfusion?worry 'Just showing Matt the sign.'
Foggy is looking at Karen so Matt can see her confusion. 'But I thought we already sh- OH.' She moves forward, into Matt's line of sight. 'You can see people now?'
'Only people Foggy can see,' Matt corrects with a mild smile and Foggy shows him how Karen's cheeks have gone red. 'Shall we go in?'
Karen nods, something Foggy doesn't bother to narrate because Matt's clearly sensed it, and leads the way. Matt pauses in the doorway, stopping Foggy entering for a moment as he feels out their office again with his senses.
Then, and only then, does he let Foggy show him what it looks like. Like you pictured it?
It's run down, it's dingy, it's clearly not an office of high end lawyers. And it's theirs. It's perfect. Better than anything Fogwellsoldwornhome I could have pictured.
Foggy's joy surges through them both. I'm glad Buddy.
'Do I need a spray bottle for you two?' Karen stands and Matt realises it's been a long few moments.
He shrugs and heads for his office. 'We'll see. Any clients?'
'Surprisingly, two.'
'Two? Must be our day.'
'I think it is pal,' Foggy says as he enters his office. It's definitely our day now we're togethercommunicatingbestfriendsagainsttheworld on the same page.
