i imagine fog world would also mess with matt's senses since the snow muffles sound. could you imagine matt getting ambushed by monsters because he can't smell them (the fog is so thick he can only smell water vapor) and can't hear them (their steps would be muted by the snow)? he'd only be able to hear the noises they make with their mouths, and that'd probably be when it was too late.
