Matt - or perhaps more accurately the Daredevil - didn't know how to react when the man started choking. He wasn't even holding his collar that tight.

"Danny?!" Another thug cried out, the only other who was conscious

Matt cocked his head towards the man and growled, "What's happening too him???!" He could hear his throat closing up and the tight wheeze as he tried to breath. The other man ignored him, sniffing the air.

".... Blueberries?" The reaction was almost instantaneous, "Shit, Danny." And he ran towards the wheezing Danny, pulling at the velcro on the pocket of his pants and grabbing something from inside. Matt tensed.

The man slowed a fraction, "Woah woah, chill out man. Danny's allergic to blueberries." And Matt stepped aside, remembering the fruit tart's he'd been making earlier. The other man dropped to his friend's side and and prepped an epipen before shoving it into his thigh. Process done he looked towards the devil.

"I'll tell you anything you want, just let me get Danny to a hospital."

Matt nodded awkwardly.

Matt's always been impressed by Foggy's ability to somehow fit whole rolls in his mouth without encumbering his ability to talk. "So hey, Why'd you decide to become a baker in the first place?"

Matt smiles as he kneads the dough. Their weekly 'bake n' beer' meet ups had become a regular thing after Foggy had helped him out with the zoning mess when he'd first set up the shop. Originally it had only been beer, but Matt found the evenings to be a pretty good opportunity to experiment. Especially with Foggy egging him on with increasingly strange suggestions for flavour combinations.

Foggy took a swig of beer and continued, "And you can't tell me it's only to seduce every woman in the neighbourhood with your scones dude." They both laugh

Matt kneads the dough some more before answering, " I guess you could say it's because of my dad."

Foggy quietened at that.

"I mean... he used to take me to this old bakery. Had cookies the size of your face... only ever bought it for special occasions. Birthdays usually, or when he won a fight." He paused, thoughtful. "He never wanted me to fight...."

He wraps the dough up in glad wrap and moves to put it in the fridge. "Anyway after the accident I found I could feel things more, taste.. things better. And that kind of stuff became really important." Closing the fridge door behind him and leaning against it, facing Foggy. "I thought back to that bakery sometimes and I... I guess I wanted to help people like that. Give them good memories, you know?"

He can hear the smile in Foggy's voice, "Yeah..

The second one is a great moment between Foggy and Matt, especially because it explains why Matt started baking, but as a person who has to carry around an epi pen (Haven't had to use mine yet, thank goodness. Hope I never will.), and who has family members who have had anphylactic reactions, I can totally empathize with that first scenario. Everything becomes less important the moment you know that an allergic reaction that serious has hit, whether you're the person reacting, or a family member or friend. So the way that the first criminal reacted when Danny started choking - yeah. Totally get it. I'd tell Matt everything, too. (I would tell him everything anyway, because I am a wuss, and I cannot tolerate pain.)

I don't know anyone with a severe allergy (crossed my heart hoping it was at least movie accurate lol) but I'm somewhat familiar with the increasing intensity of allergic reactions and like.. I can empathise with that man. (super glad u haven't had to use ur epipen here too bro)
(I also may have accidentally invented a whole backstory for danny and his bff steve but that's neither here nor there)

(trying to come up with meta for why Matt decided to become a baker like.. ohmygod.)
(the best thing about this au tho is imagining Stick coming back and reacting to the bakery like... ohmygod. i am getting so much joy from that mental image)
