Basically, Matt's dad wasn't a boxer, he killed people, anyone for a price, to get food on the table. The car accident still happens, Matt still goes blind. His dad is killed on a job, and Matt has to fend for himself. He ends up in St. Anges, but doesn't have the money or motivation to go through with uni. So he becomes daredevil a lot younger, mostly to protect himself, but then it becomes protecting people, from people with the advantage.

(Up to the author if you want to bring a massive side of guilt from what his dad had to do here, and how Matt is trying to do pretty much the opposite)

One day, he slips up. And he meets Foggy, an up and coming lawyer at Landman and Zach, wanting to get to the top so he can do more for his city. They see eye to eye on this. And then they become friends, and whever the author wants to take it.
